So much goes on in our life in Balay sa
Nazaret, so many activities! While some
people are excited to write about their experiences, finding time to do so proves to be a big challenge. Finally, here we are to tell you our story
from January to May 2013.
“Santo Niño” is our focus.
We demonstrated that we are under his
patronage by celebrating SINULOG, the traditional ritual dance competition to
Santo Nino. It was a wonderful
afternoon: different groups of missionary children came to Balay sa
Nazaret. Our Balay sa Nazaret girls
prepared the court in front of the house. We were delighted with the music, the
decorations, and with the leaders welcoming the children and some visitors.
There was a mishap though: one group’s
Santo Nino statue fell and broke because of a wrong move during the dance. The
girl who was holding the little statue stood motionless and speechless for a
while wondering what would happen next. Some of the dancers gathered the pieces
and encouraged her to continue. We
promised to replace the statue to the grandmother who lent her Santo Nino for
the occasion. No matter what happened,
the feast had to continue.
Our challenge for the next year is to join
in with the groups celebrating SINULOG in the Parish. It will
depend on the decision of the leaders, and more importantly, on our possibilities to provide costumes.
